Somatic Tango
Somatic Tango is both a method and a name that I have chosen to describe a tango that is sustainable, comfortable for both parties and based on the body's individual anatomical conditions.Â

By request, we will return this fall with a stand-alone workshop in Somatic Tango together with the wonderful Malin Backström. We begin the course by focusing on the anatomy around our shoulders and arms. After that, you get down on your mat and receive gently guided movements to help you release unconscious muscle tension. You know those tensions in our stressed shoulders? Or the ones we usually hide between the shoulder blades? The ones that also affect your partner and make them need to compensate? We give in to them and let go. Then we bring the same focus into the tango, where we explore how the dance can be both comfortable and stable without these tensions.

The course leaders
Courses in Somatic Tango are held by Annika Pahlén and Malin Backström.
Malin Backström is a highly regarded DJ and tango teacher with a special focus on contact, communication and musicality. She teaches regularly in Stockholm and is frequently hired around Sweden and Europe. She also runs Studio Touch in Stockholm.
